One person found dead in Bloomfield home explosion

One person is found dead after a Monday evening explosion and fire at a home in Bloomfield.

Bloomfield Police say they were dispatched around 6:11 p.m. to a residence at 27 Banbury Lane to help responding Fire Departments on the report of an explosion that resulted in a large fire at a home.

The fire department was successfully able to extinguish the fire, but the house sustained devastating damage.

A body was located in the debris around 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.

The State Medical Examiner now has custody of the remains. The body hasn't been officially identified at this time.

Bloomfield Social services, Department of Public Works, Buildings and Land Use, Connecticut Natural Gas, Eversource all responded for respective assistance.

The State Fire Marshal responded to assist Bloomfield Fire Marshall on scene with the fire investigation.

There's no criminal aspect at this time.
