Windsor Locks, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police in Windsor Locks have released additional details on the death of a nursing home resident who wandered out of the facility and was found in freezing temperatures early Sunday morning.
Investigators say surveillance video shows Margaret Healy, 93, leave Bickford Healthcare around 1:50 a.m. through an employee entrance.
Healy was found about three hours later around 4:45 a.m.
She was lying in a snowbank in temperatures near zero.
Police say while the door was not equipped with a so-called wander guard, it was designed to remain closed and locked.
Further investigation found that the door was often propped open although the access code was on the keypad.
Healy was an Alzheimer's patient who'd been known to wander before.
Police are continuing their investigation along with the state Department of Public Health.
