South Windsor man faces charges after found asleep at the wheel of his vehicle

South Windsor, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police in South Windsor are charging a man after they say he was found asleep at the wheel of his vehicle Monday night at an intersection in town.

Under arrest is Peter Santos, 49, of South Windsor.

Police say they found Santos sound asleep around 9:15 p.m. behind the wheel of his vehicle at Ellington and Buckland Roads.

Officers say they had to break a window in order to gain access, after which Santos eventually awoke.

According to investigators, Santos was found to be in possession of narcotics and subsequently failed a Standardized Field Sobriety Test.

He was booked on charges of DUI and possession of a controlled substance.

Santos is free on a $5,000 bond and due in court in Manchester February 23.
