Waterbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - A state police trooper is recovering after his cruiser was struck Saturday along Interstate 84 in Waterbury.

It was around 5:42 p.m. when investigators say the trooper was parked in the shoulder of I-84-east near exit 25-A.

A vehicle traveling in the right lane was struck by another that was in the center lane, which then hit the police cruiser.

The trooper and operator of the vehicle that hit the car and cruiser were taken to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver was cited for driving on a suspended license, lack of insurance, failure to drive in the proper lane and traveling too fast for conditions.
