
East Hartford, Conn./WTIC Report - East Hartford police continue to investigate a shooting in town over the weekend that left a 17-year-old dead.
Investigators say around 5:00 Sunday morning, four individuals left the AAA Diner on Main Street without paying their bill.
An arriving officer noticed the group get into an Uber and leave the scene.
That vehicle was stopped a short time later at Main and Orchard Streets.
Police say the teen ran from the stop with officers in pursuit.
It was after they lost sight of the teen that they heard a gunshot and found him with a self-inflicted wound to the leg, police said.
He later died at an area hospital.
Officers say a gun found near the victim had been reported stolen out of South Windsor.
