WESTPORT, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Westport police arrested three people after investigating a late morning report of larceny at an Ulta Beauty store in town.

When officers responded to the beauty store on Post Road East at about 11:50 a.m. Thursday, store employees told police three people had put merchandise into bags they were carrying and allegedly left without paying for any of the items.

All three people were last seen running towards Old Road - presumably to a waiting car, police said.

The suspect vehicle crashed on I-95 a short time later, police said, and four people reportedly ran from the car toward the Saugatuck section of town.

With the assistance of a State Police K-9, officers searched the area and located three of the four suspects on Treadwell Avenue where they were taken into custody.

According to police, it's believed the fourth person involved has since left the area.

Police are in the process of identifying the three suspects. Charges are pending.
