There is joy in California's Big Bear Valley, where a pair of bald eagles are once again watching over a precious egg.
This is the story of Jackie and Shadow, names bestowed upon the regal pair of bald eagles nesting high above the valley. With a live eagle cam focused on them 24/7, the pair have garnered a very dedicated fan base.
There was the building of their nest and the laying of Jackie’s first egg.
We shared her moments of motherly solitude, and the excitement when Shadow brought a fresh caught fish home to dinner. We also shared the horror of watching a pair of ravens invade the nest and attack the egg, devouring it.
Then, the heartbreak of Jackie returning to the empty nest.
But nature provides.
Jackie has laid another egg and she’s not leaving the nest this time.
