(KFTK) – HUD Secretary Ben Carson explained what he and his team are doing to combat the homelessness crisis happening in California.
“We have to understand that 28 % of homeless people have mental issues. We have to be willing to do the whole package or we won’t make any progress,” he said on identifying the real issues that need to be solved.
HUD has been reoriented from how many people can we get into programs to how many people can we get out of programs.
“You have to be equip with a certain type of skills to partake in the bounty of this booming economy,” he said on the tools he would like to give many folks in order for them to move forward in their lives.

The Secretaries main goal is for people to feel like they can be self-sufficient.
