(KFTK) – Vice President of Marketing Austin Berg said the high taxes put on weed might be enhancing the black market for weed.
The state has put a 40 % tax rate on weed since it has been legalized recreationally.
“The biggest chunk of the money goes to the state’s general revenues fund,” Berg said.
Berg warns that we can not trust lawmakers in Illinois who say the money from weed will be going to things like infrastructure and education.
Dispensaries have cleared more than $10 million in sales just the first week.
