Reforming and dismantling the current Illinois House of Representative legislative rules is key to preventing another Mike Madigan from consolidating control in Illinois.
According to Illinois Policy, no other state grants their House speaker as much power as the Land of Lincoln.
Their reccommended statehouse solutions include:1. Stop letting one person appoint committee chairs and choose who votes in committee.
2. Stop killing bills in the rules committee.
3. Stop allowing the speaker to kill bills at will by sticking to a schedule.
