Political editor at The Federalist John Davidson explained what NBC News and Google were trying to accomplish by pulling Google ads off of their site.
“This is really a story about NBC news,” he started with. “We actually never heard anything about this from Google. We found out about this from a faulty news report from NBC news.”
This case is a bizarre mix of collusion and big tech to try to smother a small website’s opinion that they don’t like.
“Nothing we have published has ever run afoul,” he said. He pointed out that The Federalist was targeted because of their comments section.
Since the comments section is not monitored, Google had an issue with some of the things being said by commenters.
