While investigators search the site of the explosion for clues, the Lebanese government has put port officials on house arrest for the time being.

At least 100 people were killed Tuesday in the blast that was originally linked to a fireworks production facility.
Probable cause has shifted to a huge stockpile of ammonium nitrate, a component of fertilizer.
The aftermath of the explosion that happened in Beirut is something we have never seen before. It was a terrifying video to watch as a building caught fire and then exploded, creating a mushroom cloud.
Senior Research Fellow for Defense Programs at Heritage Dakota Wood said you could see the initial fire, fireworks set off, and then as it moved towards the warehouse the giant explosion.
Wood said the possibility of this being an attack has not been ruled out.
“We can’t dismiss it because it hasn’t been ruled out,” he said. “The evidence so far indicts that this was just a tragic explosion.”
