Board of Alderman President Lewis Reed joins our #Bottomline segment to discuss recent attempts to reform law enforcement in the City of St. Louis.
Reed explains the proposed legislation specifically addresses the following:
- Banning chokeholds
- De-escalation tactics
- Duty to intervene
- Reporting anytime a weapon is drawn
“The focus should be on having a well-functioning police department,” says Reed. He and Marc find a ton of common ground on the issue; both agreeing that you can’t take guns away from police officers and expect them to protect citizens against armed criminals.
