St. Louis County council member files resolution to preserve police funding

The St. Louis County Council will vote on a resolution that would protect funding for law enforcement and last through 2024.

Trakas says the idea of funding the police needs to be confronted directly.

“No civil order society will long exist outside the rule of law,” says Trakas. “The idea that we’re going to defund or reallocate funds is unacceptable to me.”

Trakas says he is confident that he has at least three votes from fellow council members and hopes that no one, in good conscience, could vote against this resolution.
