(KFTK) – President Trump commuted the sentence of his ally Roger Stone last Friday. Stone was convicted by a jury of 7 felonies related to lying to Congress as well as investigators in the Russian collusion investigation.
"Everyone needs to understand," says Hans von Spakovsky, "commuting sentences, pardoning individuals is entirely within the prerogative of the President."
Spakovsky continues, saying there is just one limit to that power, "the only thing he can't do is pardon somebody who's being impeached, other than that, he can do whatever he wants with this."
Spakovsky and Mike Ferguson also discuss the possibility of more mail-in ballots this fall.
