Cuban political refugee: 'Communism is a dictatorship'

(KFTK) – Randy spent a week in Tampa, Florida and his Uber driver, and Cuban immigrant, Jorge Luis Gonzalez made quite an impact.

Gonzalez has been in the US since 2014, and came to the country as a political refugee.  He brought along his family, his wife, daugther and stepson.

"I had to leave Cuba, becasue I was prosecuted by the government," says Gonzalez, "I was fighting in favor of human rights and the government prosecuted me, everything was a mess."

Gonzalez shared a bit more about life in Cuba; "the Cuban health (system) is a mess. They say it's free, but if you go to a doctor, for example, maybe you can see a doctor the same day," but supplies on the island can be limited, "the doctor tells you, 'you need an aspirin' you go to  the drug store, there is no aspirin."

Gonzalez says Americans who support socialism are making, "a big mistake."
