(KFTK) – John Tamny, the editor of Real Clear Markets, joined Randy to promote his new book, They’re Both Wrong: A Policy Guide for America’s Frustrated Independent Thinkers.
Randy and Tamny dive right in to the topic of immigration.
"Conservatives have been really inconsistent," says Tobler, "some very staid and foundational conservative principles bely some of the arguments against immigration."
Tamny agrees, "imagine how conservatives would react if suddenly Senator Schumer came on TV and said, 'ok, from now on, I want to control how much steel you import into the United States, how many silicon chips, I've just decided this is what you need to get by."
"The reaction would be intensely negative," says Tamny, "you're trying to plan the economy."
Tamny says the opportunities offered by the US are what drives immigrants to come here.
The poor economy at the start of President Obama's administration proves that point, "that was the time when more Mexicans left the United States and went back to Mexico than came in."
