The Warner Bros’ remake of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ landed ‘Black-ish’ creator Kenya Barris as the writer and director of the film. This information was revealed during Wednesday’s edition of Sue’s News on The Mark Reardon Show.
“There’s a lot of stuff in the book that isn’t in the movie or hinted at in the movie at all, so it’s an opportunity to grow the movie itself,” Abby Hobold said.
Reardon predicts changes will be made to make the remake more ‘woke,’ such as the munchkins being queer and either the wizard or Dorthy being black.
