You could have your name written in the stars!
But you only have a few weeks left.
When NASA launches the Europa Clipper next fall, it will include a microchip with thousands of names.
"The chip is about the size of your thumb," explains Laurance Fauconnet, public engagement specialist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California, "there's no limit. We can hold millions of names on this chip." NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab will use an electron beam to stencil those names.
He tells KMOX the chip will be placed on a spacecraft headed to Jupiter and it's moon Europa. "This draws from a long tradition that NASA has of sending inspirational messages on spacecraft," adds Fauconnet. That Europa Clipper mission is set to launch next October.
Names must be submitted by December 31st at https://go.nasa.gov/MessageInABottle
