Bi-State Commissioner representing Madison County Derrick Keith Cox said after the murder of MetroLink officer James Cook, we need to make sure our security guards are armed and prepared to defend themselves.
Cook was a father, a husband, and a Veteran. He was working on the MetroLink platform the night he was shot and killed.
Derrick Keith Cox is quickly becoming an advocate for helping and supporting our officers and giving them the proper tools to defend themselves.
"This is our city. This is our region. We have got to do something," he said.
Cook was not allowed to have a weapon while working security. Cox said he has been trying to reach out so that people can hear this story. This seems like a fairly new policy of not having armed officers.
The response from the other side has been condolences, but Cox said we need more than that. We need action.
