ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The first mass vaccination site in St. Louis County will be at Florissant Valley Community College.

Ferguson Mayor Ella Jones is optimistic the vaccines will help restore normalcy, and allow people to gather with friends and family, get people back to school, back at work and "back to doing the simple things in life."

Nursing and allied health students could help administer vaccines, pending approval from the health department.

St. Louis County Executive Sam Page says the mass vaccination site won't be a walk-up or drive-thru site. Appointments are required, and the first vaccinations at the site could take place as early as next week.

"At a mass vaccination site like this, we hope to get through several hundred a day on a daily on a regular basis, and depending on the amount of vaccine, we may be able to scale that up," Page says.
