An Illinois judge ruled that the Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card law in the state is unconstitutional after an Illinois woman challenged the rule when it came to possessing a firearm in her own home.
Vivian Claudine Brown was accused of possessing a firearm in her home without a FOID card. White County Judge T. Scott Webb agreed with her defense that she was a law-abiding citizen who had the fundamental right of self-defense regardless of a piece of paper.
