More headlines from the St Louis Circuit Attorney's office, and it seems like more turmoil as prosecutions are being dropped, re-assigned, and re-filed under Kim Gardner as detailed in the Post-Dispatch.
Marc Cox says that cases were assigned to prosecutors who were out of the office, including one who was on maternity leave.
"While she was out on maternity leave, they assigned additional murder cases to her, including a capital-murder case, while she was out on maternity leave," says Cox. "So she would have walked back in the door from maternity leave, and faced seven new cases on her agenda that she wasn't there when they were assigned."
Cox says the reasoning that Gardner's office uses is a, "head-scratcher."
"Kim Gardner blamed the dismissal of charges," says Cox, "on internal policies and procedures regarding family medical leave. Well, no kidding, but aren't those her internal policies and procedures?"
