Local attorney: 'The Rep has become wholly political'

Longtime season ticket-holder at The Repertory Theatre of St Louis has decided to no longer attend shows. Local attorney Beavis Schock joined Marc Cox to explain why.

"We have decided not to go anymore, the reason is The Rep has become wholly political. All the plays are about being 'woke' and it's about how black people are oppressed, and white people are horrible," says Schock. "And I mean there's are a lot of white people who are horrible, and there is a lot of black oppression, but i don't go to the theater to have my face rubbed in it, I go to the theater to have an enlightenment about the human condition through a great art form."

Schock says a current production of A Christmas Carol includes a scene where a servant is with "Scrooge" as he gets up from bed in the morning, "and the lines indicate that it's a female,"says Schock. "And the servant comes in with coffee, whatever, in a dress. But it's a man. It's a male human being who comes in to be the servant, in a dress. Now the only reason they would do that is to rub my face in the fact that I'm not sufficiently open to transgenderism and sexuals [sic] and the woman being a servant bringing in the coffee."
