Breaking news happened today that Mike Madigan has resigned from the Illinois General Assembly.
Illinois state representative Blaine Wilhour said this is a win for the state and a move towards getting out of corruption.
With Mike Madigan in place, both political sides of the aisle felt like they couldn't voice their opinions. It was Madigan's way or the highway.
"I think this does open it up," Wilhour said. "I don't think anyone will be able to put together the power base that he had."
