Missouri Senators have passed a bill to block local police from enforcing federal gun laws.
The Republican-backed House Bill 85 would establish the Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) that nullifies federal gun laws in the state.
Police departments could be sued and fined $5K for every violation if their officers enforce federal gun laws.
The Missouri House now faces a deadline to pass the legislation.
