Restaurant owners along with St. Loius County Councilman Tim Fitch testified before a Missouri Senate committee in support of legislation that would give local politicians oversight of local health officials.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Jim Murphy, would require local health officials to get approval from city councils or governing boards before extending emergency health restrictions past 15 days.
Murphy says the legislation was drafted in anticipation of situations like the pandemic response by St. Louis County Executive Sam Page.
