97.1 FM Talk in Action is proud to support Our Lady's Inn.
Our Lady's Inn is a local nonprofit dedicated to providing safe shelter, compassionate care, and personalized support to pregnant women and their children who are experiencing homelessness. Founded in 1982, the organization has become a national leader in the field. As the first maternity home in the nation to earn accreditation, Our Lady's Inn has helped set the standard for more than 15 years. Under the leadership of President and CEO Peggy Forrest, the organization has also helped support the opening of other maternity homes across the country.
Each year, maternity homes operated by Our Lady's Inn in St. Louis and St. Charles County serve hundreds of women and children through residential programs that provide not only housing, but also case management, counseling, parenting education, and access to critical maternal health and social services. The organization's goal is not simply to meet immediate needs, but to help families achieve long-term stability, independence, and hope for the future. After completing the residential program, mothers participate in a two-year Aftercare Program that provides continued guidance and support as they transition toward independent living.
Over the past decade, Our Lady's Inn has seen a steady increase in the number of women from St. Louis County seeking its services. Experience has shown that serving individuals close to their medical providers, schools, employment opportunities, and the communities where they hope to establish permanent homes is the most effective way to deliver care. To meet that need, the organization is building a new home on seven acres off Big Bend near Valley Park. Construction is expected to begin this spring, with the new facility anticipated to open by the end of 2027.
Those who need services can learn more by visiting the Our Lady's Inn website. Community members interested in supporting the mission can also find information about volunteer opportunities, donations, and upcoming fundraising events. The organization invites the community to help ensure that mothers and their children have the opportunity to build safe, stable futures.
