Election Director says poll workers are need for April 5 election

St Louis County needs election workers, that's the message Republican Director of Elections Rick Stream passed along to the Marc Cox Morning Show. The General Municipal Election is scheduled for April 5, 2022.

St Louis County had a 79-percent turnout 2 years ago for the Presidential election says Stream, and the municipal election usually has a turnout of about 20%, but "we have to man the polls the same as the Presidential. We have to have an equal number of Republicans and Democrats working to ensure that everything's fair and accurate."

Stream says a lot of the training to be an election worker is done virtually and plenty of time for those who are interested and the pay is $200.

"Its a long day, no question about it," says Stream, "we definitely have to have Republicans and Democrats, and we're short on Republicans, there's no doubt about it."
