St. Charles Police to crack down on expired temp tags

St. Charles Mayor Dan Borgmeyer joins the Mark Reardon Show to discuss a new program launched by the St. Charles Police to crack down on expired temporary tags with Brad Young.

“If you just cite them for the temp tag, they continue to drive around. So, we now cite them for the temp tag and take the temp tag. And that goes to court as evidence. It also helps the court validate that it is a legitimate temp tag. And then the people can appear in court and do what they need to do,” Mayor Borgmeyer explains.

Later he stated, “We decided to make it a part of the regular patrol process. We’re not out searching for temp tags, but anytime the police see one now they take action against it as long as it doesn’t violate their regular protocol… We use license plate readers extensively in St. Charles.”
