MARYLAND HEIGHTS (97.1 FM Talk) - If you weren't one of the thousands of people who lined the highways of St. Louis and St. Charles and waved flags during last week's military escort of a local fallen Marine – you've got another chance this Thursday. And a local business is giving away American flags for free ahead of the event.
If you need an American Flag for Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz's funeral procession this Thursday, John Beal Roofing is giving them out through Thursday. Thousands of flags were donated by USO volunteer, retired Air Force Master Sgt. Ralph Morse.
You can pick the flag up between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. today and Wednesday at the office located at 12181 Prichard Farm Rd, Maryland Heights, MO 63043.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is warning St. Louis and St. Charles drivers about some highway closures on Thursday for the procession.
It will leave Baue Funeral Home at 3950 West Clay Street in St. Charles, take eastbound Interstate 70, then exit on southbound Interstate 270, through onto Interstate 255 and then will take the Telegraph Road exit. It will head north and then turn right onto Sheridan Road and head towards Jefferson Barracks.
The entire route will be closed for traffic during the procession, which begins at 2 p.m.
