Chris Arps, co-host of The Weekend Report, welcomed a pair of candidates for St Louis Mayor to the Marc Cox Show on Tuesday morning. Board of Aldermen President Lewis Reed and Republican candidate Andrew Jones appeared in separate interviews.

"Addressing the issues of public safety will be by number-one priority as mayor," says Reed, "and I'll take personal responsibility for it, because enough is enough. We have to get these shooters off the streets."

"Nothing's being done comprehensively to do anything about the crime that [is] constantly imploding our city," says Jones.

There have been more than 260 homicides in the city of St Louis so far this year, a 25-percent increase over 2019 figures.

Jones and Reed also discussed the economic development priorities they would like to address if they are elected as Mayor.

The election is scheduled for April 6, 2021.
