Amtrak train from Los Angeles derailed in Missouri following collision

LOS ANGELES (KNX) – An Amtrak train from Los Angeles derailed following a collision with a truck in Missouri on Monday.

The train, which was en route to Chicago, struck a dump truck in Mendon, Missouri at 1:42 p.m., Amtrak said in a press release.

Amtrak added there are 243 people onboard the train with “early reports of injuries.”

"Local authorities are currently assisting customers and we have deployed Amtrak resources to assist,” officials said.
