Gerber Products Company has reissued a nationwide recall of its "Soothe n Chew Teething Stick" due to a potential choking hazard. The recall was first issued three months ago, but the product was recently discovered to still be available on some store shelves, according to Newsweek.

The recall affects retailers and consumers across 45 states and Puerto Rico and includes all batches of the teething sticks in Strawberry Apple and Banana flavors. They're marketed as a way to sooth sore teething gums, but were reported numerous times as a choking hazard.

"Responding to Newsweek's request for comment, a Nestle spokesperson said: "We continue to work with our customers to remove these products from store shelves. Additionally, we continue to work with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on this recall and will cooperate with them fully."

Gerber acknowledged reports of the recalled product still being available for sale, prompting a renewed warning and calls for consumers to remove the items from their homes.

Gerber advised parents and caregivers not to feed the recalled products to their children and to return them to the store where purchased for a full refund.

The company is offering around-the-clock customer support at 1-800-4-GERBER (1-800-443-7237).
