General Motors’ second-quarter net income fell 40% compared to last year, in part due to computer chip and parts shortages. These global shortages forced GM to build 95,000 vehicles without certain components.
Sue Thomas shared the news on The Mark Reardon Show on Wednesday’s edition of Sue’s News.
“Demand for vehicles is still really strong, but GM says it’s already preparing for an economic downturn because they kind of see it coming,” Sue said, “so they’re limiting hiring and they’re limiting discretionary spending.
They’re still doing well, but that chip shortage is really a huge deal.”
