After joking in a TikTok video that she would give out tickets after not getting “cracked” the night before, a Texas law enforcement officer is reportedly facing an internal investigation.
Fox 26 Houston reported that a constable deputy with Harris County Precinct 5 was seen in the viral video. Per a clip shared by Houston City Beat’s Instagram account, it had this caption across the screen: “Didn’t get cracked last night so everyone is getting a ticket,” indicating sexual frustration.
According to Fox 26, the officer, a woman in uniform with her name patch showing who appeared to be writing in a notebook, was participating in a trend on the TikTok social media app. It said videos on her account (ms.escaleraaa) showed her participating in other trends. As of Tuesday, videos on the account were not visible and Fox 26 reported that the viral video had been deleted.
“Our administration is aware and internal affairs has opened an investigation. We have no other comment at this time,” said the Precinct 5 Constable Office in response to Fox 26’s injury regarding the video.
“I think it’s really inappropriate and disrespectful,” local resident Alex Fitch told the station.
According to the Houston Chronicle, it is unclear whether the other videos from the TikTok account are under review. People Magazine reported that while the precinct hasn’t identified the woman in the video, the Chronicle and AOL identified her as Jennifer Escalera. A Facebook post from the precint indicates she joined the agency in 2021.
People reported that the precinct “did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and has not confirmed whether Escalera remains on active duty during the review.” Furthermore, it said that no disciplinary actions have been announced.
