A lawsuit filed by the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) in 2019 challenged California’s Assault Weapons Control Act (AWCA) that banned semiautomatic firearms.
Federal Judge Roget T. Benitez ruled in favor of FPC, striking down the ban, “…This is an average case about average guns used in average ways for average purposes.”
