When it was first announced that Eva Longoria was directing a movie about Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, many fans wondered what was happening to the movie industry. However, they quickly learned the film would actually tell the incredible story of DFW’s own Richard Montañez, who went from being a janitor to a Vice President at Frito Lay. Now, the first trailer for the film has been released, and many are excited to learn more about Montañez’s story.
“Flamin’ Hot” has hit a few speedbumps since it was first announced back in 2019, but fans are finally getting a glimpse of what’s to come in the film as the first trailer has been released ahead its premiere next month. While there is some controversy behind the actual story of how Flamin’ Hot Cheetos were invented, the trailer shows the film will give a humorous and heartwarming depiction of Montañez’s story.
According to Food & Wine, Montañez started his career as a janitor at Frito-Lay before eventually working his way to becoming their vice president of multicultural sales and community promotions. The film stars Jesse Garcia as Montañez and is set to be released on Hulu and Disney+ June 9.
