Sheena Greitens: 'I stand by my sworn statements' of abuse by former MO Governor

COLUMBIA, MO (KMOX) - A day after her court filing accusing ex-husband Eric Greitens of abuse, Sheena Greitens issues a short public statement saying she stands by her sworn affidavit. The former Governor and current US Senate candidate has called the allegations "fabricated" and "baseless" and said it was "clearly a politically-motivated attack."

Sheena Greitens says she did not discuss the allegations with anyone but legal counsel and immediate family. Here is the statement posted on social media Tuesday:

"I stand by my sworn statements. I did not discuss the contents of my affidavit with anyone other than my counsel and, after the affidavit was filled, my immediate family. My only interest is what's best for my two children, and for the last four years, I have gone to great lengths to keep these family matters private to protect them. I am not interested in litigating this matter anywhere other than a courtroom. At the appropriate time in the legal process, I will provide whatever evidence and documentation the court requests, including testimony under oath."

In a statement Monday, following release of the affidavit, Eric Greitens alleges his former spouse has a history of mental illness. He says he is seeking full custody of his children.
