In a chaotic scene at 33rd and Portland in South Minneapolis, ICE agents shot and killed a woman in her car.

ICE described what happened this way: Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism. An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers. The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. The ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries. This is the direct consequence of constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant assaults on our law enforcement who are facing 1,300% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats. This is an evolving situation, and we will give the public more information as soon as it becomes available.

In a follow-up press conference with Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara, a very angry Minneapolis Mayor, Jacob Frey, called the recap from DHS "bullsh*t." He then told ICE to "get the f*** out of Minneapolis".

The mayor is also calling for full investigation into Wednesday's shooting and called the still unnamed woman a US citizen.

Minneapolis Police are still on the scene, trying to calm what appears to be an angry crowd. The City of Minneapolis did post on social media they are aware of a shooting.

"We are aware of a shooting involving federal law enforcement near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue. Please avoid this area."

There's no word yet on exactly what happened, but it's believed that a woman was fleeing federal agents.

"I am aware of a shooting involving an ICE agent at 34th Street & Portland," Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said on X. "The presence of federal immigration enforcement agents is causing chaos in our city. We’re demanding ICE to leave the city immediately. We stand rock solid with our immigrant and refugee communities."

One woman shared what she had learned at the scene.

"And the one guy said that she, they reached for her door handle, and then she took off. And then he shot her through the windshield and shot her in the face," the woman described.

Robin Wonsley, Ward 2 councilmember which covers the eastern part of Minneapolis, spoke at the scene, initially saying she didn't know if the woman was alive.

She was later confirmed as deceased.

This is a developing story. WCCO has a reporter on the scene and we'll provide further updates when available.
