CIS director skeptical of Biden attempt to reinstate Trump-era immigration policy

"I’ll believe it when I see it," said Mark Krikorian, Executive Director for the Center for Immigration Studies.

Mark Krikorian, the Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies joined The Annie Frey Show to talk about the Biden Administration's decision to reinstate the Remain in Mexico Policy. The Remain in Mexico policy was put in place by the Trump Administration and it states that asylum seekers arriving at the southern border must stay in Mexico pending the results of their asylum trial.

“I think this was an attempt by the Administration to avoid being held in contempt by the judge," Krikorian told The Annie Frey Show.

A federal judge ruled that the Biden Administration must reinstate the policy or start detaining all of the asylum seekers arriving at the southern border. This administration has been slow-walking their compliance with this ruling, setting a goal of being compliant by November. They have also cited that they need to secure Mexico’s agreement to reinstate the policy. Krikorian suspects that ultimately the administration will not reinstate the Remain in Mexico policy. Listen to the full interview above.
