Gregg Jarrett: ‘If Congress is allowed to impeach a private citizen what is to stop them of doing this tactic in the future’

Impeachment is swirling around Congress again after the Capitol riots on January 6th. Legal and political analyst Gregg Jarrett said this is completely invalid and unconstitutional to try to impeach a now private citizen.

“The president is the key word in this. Trump is no longer the president, Joe Biden is,” Jarrett pointed out. He continued and said that if we allow Congress to impeach a private citizen, what happens when we set that precedent and they are allowed to do this as a tactic for someone they disagree with politically in the future?

“They abandoned due process in the House,” he said. Jarrett said he does not see any room for conviction whatsoever.
