Jessie Jane Duff blasts Buttigieg for taking paternity leave

Former US Marine Gunnery Sergeant Jessie Jane Duff took aim at Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg during her weekly segment on The Marc Cox Morning Show.

With Mike Elam sitting-in for Cox, Duff blasted Buttigieg, a former Lieutenant in the US Navy Reserve who was deployed to Afghanistan in 2014, for taking paternity leave following the adoption of his newborn twins.

"Well guess what, 'Mayor Pete', if you were still on active-duty in the military you wouldn't have 12-weeks off," says Duff. "You wouldn't have had it. You would have had maybe up to three-weeks off. And you do have a husband, so in the military, the member that gives birth is given the longer time to recover and then the supporting family member is given up to two weeks additional off in the Navy and Marine Corps and three weeks in the Army."

"Don't give us this garbage that we don't support family leave. When you've got a crisis at your work, and you've got a crisis at you job, that's where you need to be particularly when the nation is completely dependent upon it," says Duff.
