Judge Frank Caprio dies at 88, known as the 'nicest judge in the world'

The beloved viral judge Frank Caprio died after what his family described as a long battle with cancer.

Judge Frank Caprio served as a judge for the Providence Municipal Court for four decades before his show "Caught in Providence" went viral and netted him a Daytime Emmy Award nomination. The show ran from 2018 to 2020.

His family announced his death on Instagram, with a moving tribute that suggested his fan perform acts of compassion in his memory. They added that he, "will be remembered not only as a respected judge, but as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His legacy lives on in the countless acts of kindness he inspired."

Caprio earned three million Instagram followers and 1.6 million on Tik Tok by presiding over his courtroom with kindness and justice intermingled.

Popular Instagrammer Seoung Lee of Detroit wrote, "The best judge ever! Thank you for showing the world what kindness and compassion look like. You were a true inspiration."

He was widely known as the "Nicest Judge in the World."
