Luis Salazar woke in what many people would consider a dream when he found a fanny pack at a Wawa gas station in Florida, opened it and discovered $30,000 cash. So, what did he do next?
If your guess was 'run like heck,' you are incorrect because Salazar took the rarely trodden high road and returned the money to its rightful owner.
"It's not my money to take. I was not raised that way," he later explained.
Still, the owner of the fanny pack, who was carrying the money for a family emergency and then forgot it on a railing in the bathroom, was shocked that it was returned. He reported it missing, and Salazar returned it immediately once police identified the owner through security footage.
Salazar emphasized that he never considered keeping the money, highlighting his integrity and honesty. The owner of the fanny pack was grateful and emotional, hugging Salazar when he returned the money.
