The man wanted in a Dallas kidnapping that set off an AMBER Alert last month is now in the hospital after slitting his own throat as police closed in.
On June 11th a 7-year-old girl was abducted in Dallas. Later that night she was found and doctors determined she had been sexually assaulted. Three days later, police announced they were looking for a man named Leonard Neal.
Neal's name and photo were added to the Texas Department of Public Safety Ten Most Wanted list. On Friday, working on a tip, police went to the DeSoto home of Neal's mother.
While police were talking to his mother, Neal slipped out of the house and made a run for into a wooded area.
Then someone called police to say Neal had been spotted at a bus stop in southern Dallas. When police pulled up, Neal jumped on a waiting bus and that's when officers saw him use the box cutter to slash his own throat.
He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but he is expected to survive.
