A Missouri teacher has been arrested and charged with statutory rape after she allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old student while having other students be “lookouts.”

Hailey Clifton-Carmack, 26, a math teacher at Laquey High School, was arrested in Garden Ridge, Texas, on Friday after police said she “was suspected of fleeing the State of Missouri” to avoid arrest warrants issued for her.

Allegations of Clifton-Carmack’s sex crimes first arose at the end of last year when a fellow student reported the alleged illicit relationship to the high school’s resource officer.

According to court documents obtained by the New York Post, the officer contacted the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, and the witness then met with law enforcement officials, with whom he showed pictures of his classmate with scratches on his back.

The witness said that the “scratches were from Hailey after the confidential victim had sex with her.” The witness also shared that the relations between the two occurred in the “driveway” of the witness’s home, court documents showed.

Documents say the witness alleged that Clifton-Carmack, a recently divorced mother of two, would often wear “tight or low-cut shirts” and “tight leggings that ‘showed off her camel toe.’”

Investigators were told that the victim was the reason “her divorce was pushed through” and that “Hailey had wanted a divorce due to her husband only wanting to ‘do butt stuff,’” the Post reported.

Detectives confronted Clifton-Carmack on Dec. 8, 2023, days after receiving the reports. During the discussion, investigators shared she denied the allegations.

Police confiscated her phone, and after receiving a warrant on Dec. 22, they found text messages that showed an alleged relationship was going on between the 16-year-old student and Clifton-Carmack, court documents show.

Clifton-Carmack was charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree statutory rape, sexual contact with a student, and fourth-degree child molestation on Friday after her arrest.

Her bond has been set at $250,000, and she is currently awaiting extradition to Missouri.

The boy’s father has also been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after it was learned he was allegedly aware of the relationship and that they used other students as “lookouts,” the Post reported.
