ST. LOUIS - The trend of linking people who want to earn some extra cash with people who need a service is seeing a new cycle.

A new app, Poplin, allows you to make money while doing other people's laundry. KMOX consumer editor Megan Lynch talked to a woman and asked her why she decided to do stranger's laundries.

Leah Sage was initially hesitant about the app because she thought that it would be just another scam.

"I was hesitant and it wasn't until an order popped up that said five bags that could earn $100.", said Sage, "And I was like, 'you know what I'm gonna give it a try. I was like, if it's not legit, I'll just never do it again. But let's see how it goes.'"

However, what Sage found was that her first order was actually 270 pounds of laundry. It was so much that it almost didn't fit in her car.

Poplin charges a dollar per pound so if you clean 270 pounds of laundry, you get $270 before taxes and rates.

Sage says she earned $240 in her first job and that immediately got her completely hooked in.

Poplin sells the fact that not only will your laundry be washed and dried, but also it will be folded as well.

Sage says that the app has been able to supplement her family's income and she is now able to stay home with her kids.
