The Hunter Biden laptop story has taken so many different turns. Emails on that computer were labeled as misinformation from The New York Times and Washington Post, which later admitted those emails were authentic. There are plenty of emails that could link President Joe Biden to his son’s controversial and corrupt overseas business dealings, though it appears the federal government refuses to open up an investigation on the matter. I spoke with Hans von Spakovsky of the Heritage Foundation as to why there’s no investigation as more information from that laptop becomes public.
Isn’t it interesting that if news outlets applied the same due diligence that they're applying right now, this story would've been blown wide open almost two years ago?
The New York Times and the Washington Post initially treated the laptop information as Russian disinformation, despite no evidence to show that. On the other hand, the New York Post had vetted digital records and testimony from the technician working at the computer repair shop where the laptop was dropped off. The Times and the Post could have easily authenticated the thousands of emails found on the laptop. They didn’t do that because they were afraid that it would affect the 2020 presidential election. The media should be looking through all these records and seeing how corrupt Hunter Biden potentially was and whether that corruption involved his father.
One of the folks Hunter Biden was in business with the son of infamous crime boss Whitey Bulger. He was even doing business with a ranking member of the Chinese Communist Party.

The kind of connections that are shown by the communications on this laptop, you have to believe if this was anyone else, there would be a massive federal and congressional investigation. That’s not happening at all. Congress is basically ignoring the revelations that are contained on this laptop. I think if this were to be investigated it would turn out to be one of the biggest corruption scandals in American history! Meanwhile, the Biden administration keeps refusing to comment on any of this.
Republican lawmakers are pushing for an investigation. They tried to enter the entire contents of the laptop into congressional record but we’re blocked from doing so. What’s next here?
I think that if Republicans take over the house and potentially the Senate in the midterm elections, you will see a full blown congressional investigation. U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland won’t criminally prosecute anyone connected to Hunter Biden no matter what. The potential hearings are key to finding out exactly what Hunter Biden was doing and the potential corruption Joe Biden is involved in… Particular news outlets have started to really delve into the communications on the laptop, though the mainstream media isn’t because they're afraid of how it might actually affect the upcoming elections and potentially the 2024 presidential election.
