Halloween night could bring more than just candy as nobody matched the numbers in Saturday's Powerball drawing, meaning Monday's jackpot will be for $1 billion, according to Powerball.com.
The jackpot would be better than stealing a melted KitKat from a child's trick-or-treat bag, and a potential winner could take home a cash option worth $407.3 million.
There have been 37 drawings in a row with no grand prize winner, pushing the jackpot to the billion-dollar mark.
There was one winner who matched five numbers and the Powerplay for a $2 million prize on Saturday and winners who won $1 million in California, Maryland, Michigan and Texas for matching five numbers.
The last time the Powerball jackpot was won was Aug. 3, when a Pennsylvania ticket bought in a $206.9 million jackpot.
The current grand prize still has a ways to go before hitting the world record for the largest jackpot, set back in 2016 with $1.586 billion. That jackpot was won by three winners in California, Florida, and Tennessee.
This summer, the Mega Millions jackpot hit $1.3 billion. The winning ticket was sold at a Speedway gas station in Des Plaines, Illinois.
The Powerball is played on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday in 45 states, along with Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
